Oil Jumps, Fuel Prices Reach Records on U.S. Refining Concern March 31 (Bloomberg) -- Crude oil rose, heading for its third-biggest quarterly gain this decade, and gasoline and heating oil futures reached records on concern that U.S. refineries can't make enough fuels from surging crude supplies. OPEC is pumping almost as much oil as it can, and the U.S. last week imported the most crude this year, sending inventories to their highest since July 2002. Maintenance at refineries is curbing U.S. gasoline output, with stockpiles falling for a fourth straight week in the week ended March 25 and demand set to peak for three months starting in late May. ``We know there's plenty of crude around, but there's just not enough refining capacity to process it,'' said Rob Laughlin, a broker at Man Financial in London. ``Prices of oil-derived products will remain strong.''

I love the notion of 'remain strong'. By this i am sure they mean affordable and accessible. NO?? They really mean so high and profitable that they are good investments?? This is the future. A few folks making ugly vile profits from energy sales that will become more and more expensive. Last week ExxonMobil reported fourth quarter profits of over $8 billion. The largest quarterly profit ever for any corporation. That is obscene. That much profit is emblematic of the whole problem. Make profit but don't invest in refining capacity here because the future of oil refining is in India and China and they have more reliable currencies and will be better more stable markets and well, fuck the US. So we as citizens help our corporations access every shred of our remaining economic and material resources and then we bend over and let them screw us by taking them all over seas. Meanwhile we will be left with an imposed fascist christian state further marginalizing the population between the might haves and the definitely will never haves.

Living Beyond Our Means: Natural Assets and Human Well-being

This statement was developed by the Board governing the MA process, whose membership includes representatives from U.N. organizations, governments through a number of international conventions, nongovernmental organizations, academia, business, and indigenous peoples.

The statement from the Board identifies 10 key messages and conclusions that can be drawn from the assessment:

  • Everyone in the world depends on nature and ecosystem services to provide the conditions for a decent, healthy, and secure life.
  • Humans have made unprecedented changes to ecosystems in recent decades to meet growing demands for food, fresh water, fiber, and energy.
  • These changes have helped to improve the lives of billions, but at the same time they weakened nature’s ability to deliver other key services such as purification of air and water, protection from disasters, and the provision of medicines.
  • Among the outstanding problems identified by this assessment are the dire state of many of the world’s fish stocks; the intense vulnerability of the 2 billion people living in dry regions to the loss of ecosystem services, including water supply; and the growing threat to ecosystems from climate change and nutrient pollution.
  • Human activities have taken the planet to the edge of a massive wave of species extinctions, further threatening our own well-being.
  • The loss of services derived from ecosystems is a significant barrier to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals to reduce poverty, hunger, and disease.
  • The pressures on ecosystems will increase globally in coming decades unless human attitudes and actions change.
  • Measures to conserve natural resources are more likely to succeed if local communities are given ownership of them, share the benefits, and are involved in decisions.
  • Even today’s technology and knowledge can reduce considerably the human impact on ecosystems. They are unlikely to be deployed fully, however, until ecosystem services cease to be perceived as free and limitless, and their full value is taken into account.
  • Better protection of natural assets will require coordinated efforts across all sections of governments, businesses, and international institutions. The productivity of ecosystems depends on policy choices on investment, trade, subsidy, taxation, and regulation, among others.

Grokster schmuckster...

Why are unions anti-P2P??? That is a good question to ask yourself today, after their friend of the court brief in the MGM v Grokster case. Unions are taking the position that Bit -torrent P2P code is a threat to their welfare, while of course ignoring that it is this very type of code that helps them integrate seemless CGI, sound and other application programs into green screen blue screen segments. Unless of course that is their ultimate goal. Fight the very codesources that are taking away their jobs, by fighting to restrict access to every one.. pondering..

Despite recommendations by Army investigators, commanders have decided not to prosecute 17 American soldiers implicated in the deaths of three prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2003 and 2004, according to a new accounting released Friday by the Army. Investigators had recommended that all 17 soldiers be charged in the cases, according to the accounting by the Army Criminal Investigation Command. The charges included murder, conspiracy and negligent homicide. While none of the 17 will face any prosecution, one received a letter of reprimand and another was discharged after the investigations. To date, the military has taken steps toward prosecuting some three dozen soldiers in connection with a total of 28 confirmed or suspected homicides of detainees. The total number of such deaths is believed to be between 28 and 31.In one of the three cases in which no charges are to be filed, the commanders determined the death to be "a result of a series of lawful applications of force." In the second, the commanders decided not to prosecute because of a lack of evidence. In the third, they determined the soldier involved had not been well informed of the rules of engagement.

The best example of this case is the one where soldiers hung a guy by the neck with a baton causing fatal injuries to his trachea. This was determined to have been lawful application of force because the prisoner had been resistance and not compliant to their requests. REally!! That is how they put it. Since it takes at least two guys to do this, plus a couple of others who have to help with the interrogation, four on one was not sufficient to control or restrain the subject. Must be the Rodney King verdict, the twinkies defense. One iraqi military officer was so huge and overpowering that his resistance during questioning required him to be lawfully executed by breaking his trachea. Sounds perfectly reasonable.. if you are living in latin america w/ death squads or in asia under the indonesian military or in africa in darfur. But does it really sound reasonable in the behavior of US citizens. I think not.

Editorial today on Bobby Fischer...
They don't seem to mind that Fischer, whom some say was the greatest chess player ever until Garry Kasparov came along, is probably nuts. There were reports he had all the fillings removed from his teeth because he was afraid the Russians were transmitting radio signals to his brain. Born of a Jewish mother, Fischer is virulently anti-Semitic, uttering such silliness as, "America is totally under the control of the Jews" in an interview five years ago. Fleeing Japan Thursday, he called President Bush a war criminal who "should be hung." His bizarre outbursts and hatred of America, the country that made all his success possible, are fairly inexplicable in someone with a normal mind.

A quick analysis of just these comments reveals the underlying campaign to attack Fischer. "There were reports" is clearly providing a cover for rumors to discredit and slander him. Why? Because when you say he is "probably nuts," you need a little backup. Virulently anti-Semetic for say something so silly as how the "jews" control the US government. Well let's look at a short list. Of the 25 leading makers of policy of the Bush administration and the next 25 major players in think tank/lobbying/political contributions groups, how many are jewish? 34/50. That's right 34 of 50, mostly neo-cons under the Cheney/Rove brand of zionist expansion designed by Kissinger minions. Is Fischer silly about this?? Probably not, given the US overt policy towards Israel, the failure of any efforts to stop Mossad agents from collecting whatever state/nuclear/strategic secrets from US NSA/CIA/DoD. Gosh outbursts and hatred towards a country that made it all possible??? Say what?? what the fuck is this shit. Until Fischer garnered some attention in this country for his inate ability to comprehend a game and game theory on level with Soviet-sphere nations masses, no one cared. This nation made money off him as a kid, plying him as a product. So he owes this nation for making something. The world's best chess has always been played in middle andeastern europe; more people play chess in iceland per capita than anywhere else in the world. Yeah the US made a chess champion, just about as well as it made a african music.

Nowhere in the article did it mention Fischers work on Big Blue programming, on US missle defense game theory problems, on graphic interface landscapes for multi-user gaming used by DoD to train and facilitate the use of robots. But they can't admit that, otherwise they would have to admit he knew what he was talking about. damn catch-22

lot kunk' `sni---wrong bitch

Some proto-fascist beatch created this drivel as an attack on basic services and needs for the population.
"The Terri case has no comparison
to other people in this country who expect things to be handed to them. This country affords you the freedom to education and jobs of your choice to then feed your family and and attain medical attention. They are not 'entitled' to handouts! If there wasn't such criminal abuse of the social services, there would be enough out there for the truly needy! Terri's husband needs her dead! If anyone would investigate, I would be curious as to the reason why. It disgusts me that this whole event is happening! It embarrasses me that the whole world is watching! This woman has done nothing wrong, and yet we have prisons on top of prisons with people proven to be guilty, who will never be put to death—never mind starved to death! I have always been proud to be an American. I am not proud of this!"

My oh my, how dare people expect things to be handed to them. Oh wait, she is talking about poor people, not rich people right? It is still okay for the rich to expect things to be handed to them, to be entitled: to their handouts, to their tax breaks, to their freedom from laws, to their acquisition and destruction of the environment, to their enslavement of others!!! Obviously this bitch pays zero attention to anything except Rush Limbaugh or O'Reality who told her to write this drivelling shit. To claim as she does that this country "affords you the freedom to.. JOBS" is beyond the comprehension of someone who actually has an acquaintence w/ reality. To further destroy her own credibility she suggest that people can afford medical attention no matter what their financial condition ridicules the millions upon millions of US citizens who have zero access, simply because they have been priced out of it by greed sustained by idiots such as this.

But then she does propose we start killing people in prison of course not realizing we already do, but just not on the news, as that might draw too much attention to our gulag. aaaarrrrggggg.. she is a fucking stupid bitch

héchun shni ye!

Ponder this sentence!
Students who believe their professor is singling them out for “public ridicule” – for instance, when professors use the Socratic method to force students to explain their theories in class – would also be given the right to sue.
the right to sue??? in other words, if a professor uses one of the most valuable of all teaching strategies to facilitate an important learning experience in a classroom, then the called upon student should have the right to sue that professor because the student feels ridiculed?? yes this is the dawning of the fascist state in the US. GET it in your heads people.. FASCSIM is growing and rampant and expanding!!! and now for the rest of the story---which is even stranger

Capitol bill aims to control ‘leftist’ profs
THE LAW COULD LET STUDENTS SUE FOR UNTOLERATED BELIEFS.

By JAMES VANLANDINGHAM

Alligator Staff Writer

TALLAHASSEE — Republicans on the House Choice and Innovation Committee voted along party lines Tuesday to pass a bill that aims to stamp out “leftist totalitarianism” by “dictator professors” in the classrooms of Florida’s universities.

The Academic Freedom Bill of Rights, sponsored by Rep. Dennis Baxley, R-Ocala, passed 8-to-2 despite strenuous objections from the only two Democrats on the committee.

The bill has two more committees to pass before it can be considered by the full House.

While promoting the bill Tuesday, Baxley said a university education should be more than “one biased view by the professor, who as a dictator controls the classroom,” as part of “a misuse of their platform to indoctrinate the next generation with their own views.”

The bill sets a statewide standard that students cannot be punished for professing beliefs with which their professors disagree. Professors would also be advised to teach alternative “serious academic theories” that may disagree with their personal views.

According to a legislative staff analysis of the bill, the law would give students who think their beliefs are not being respected legal standing to sue professors and universities.

Students who believe their professor is singling them out for “public ridicule” – for instance, when professors use the Socratic method to force students to explain their theories in class – would also be given the right to sue.

“Some professors say, ‘Evolution is a fact. I don’t want to hear about Intelligent Design (a creationist theory), and if you don’t like it, there’s the door,’” Baxley said, citing one example when he thought a student should sue.

Rep. Dan Gelber, D-Miami Beach, warned of lawsuits from students enrolled in Holocaust history courses who believe the Holocaust never happened.

Similar suits could be filed by students who don’t believe astronauts landed on the moon, who believe teaching birth control is a sin or even by Shands medical students who refuse to perform blood transfusions and believe prayer is the only way to heal the body, Gelber added.

“This is a horrible step,” he said. “Universities will have to hire lawyers so our curricula can be decided by judges in courtrooms. Professors might have to pay court costs — even if they win — from their own pockets. This is not an innocent piece of legislation.”

The staff analysis also warned the bill may shift responsibility for determining whether a student’s freedom has been infringed from the faculty to the courts.

But Baxley brushed off Gelber’s concerns. “Freedom is a dangerous thing, and you might be exposed to things you don’t want to hear,” he said. “Being a businessman, I found out you can be sued for anything. Besides, if students are being persecuted and ridiculed for their beliefs, I think they should be given standing to sue.”

During the committee hearing, Baxley cast opposition to his bill as “leftists” struggling against “mainstream society.”

“The critics ridicule me for daring to stand up for students and faculty,” he said, adding that he was called a McCarthyist.

Baxley later said he had a list of students who were discriminated against by professors, but refused to reveal names because he felt they would be persecuted.

Rep. Eleanor Sobel, D-Hollywood, argued universities and the state Board of Governors already have policies in place to protect academic freedom. Moreover, a state law outlining how professors are supposed to teach would encroach on the board’s authority to manage state schools.

“The big hand of state government is going into the universities telling them how to teach,” she said. “This bill is the antithesis of academic freedom.”

But Baxley compared the state’s universities to children, saying the legislature should not give them money without providing “guidance” to their behavior.

“Professors are accountable for what they say or do,” he said. “They’re accountable to the rest of us in society … All of a sudden the faculty think they can do what they want and shut us out. Why is it so unheard of to say the professor shouldn’t be a dictator and control that room as their totalitarian niche?”

In an interview before the meeting, Baxley said “arrogant, elitist academics are swarming” to oppose the bill, and media reports misrepresented his intentions.

“I expect to be out there on my own pretty far,” he said. “I don’t expect to be part of a team.”

lead in to previous post--scared yet???

Unaware of it as they are, theirs is part of a global revival of fundamentalism, which emerged when triumphant materialism arrived in the wake of the enlightenment. Poor dear enlightenment! So brief! Then smashed by two world wars, Verdun, Dresden, Auschwitz, the gulags, nuclear weapons, impending ecological disaster... Not that anyone in this church ever heard of the enlightenment. Two generations of them were raised in Christian schools amid the unyielding hostility and fear of the Cold War and declining real wages and education. Is it any wonder they are so attracted to the Apocalypse both materially and literally? From home as they know it on this planet, you look out the window what you see is the approaching end of the fucking world.

In response, they long ago collected themselves in what amount to mental and theological compounds, built thousands of Christian institutions and schools and trained two generations for a theocratic state. Fundamentalist thinker Gary North announced decades ago, "We will train up a generation of people who know that there is no religious neutrality, no neutral law, no neutral education, and no neutral civil government. Then they will get busy in constructing a Bible-based social, political and religious order which finally denies the religious liberty of the enemies of God."

Well, they've done it.

from Joe Bageant...

tanyan ohan?

from Jane Lampman at the ChristSciMon... this is good stuff... and extraordinarily scary too:

In material given to conference attendees, the Rev. D. James Kennedy, Coral Ridge pastor wrote: "As the vice-regents of God, we are to bring His truth and His will to bear on every sphere of our world and our society. We are to exercise godly dominion and influence over our neighborhoods, our schools, our government ... our entertainment media, our news media, our scientific endeavors - in short, over every aspect and institution of human society."

This is the 10th conference to spread this "cultural mandate" among Christians, and although the church's pastor couldn't speak due to illness, others presented the message intended to rouse the conservative faithful, eager to capitalize on gains won during the November election.

This melding of religion and politics, Christianity and patriotism, makes many uneasy, particularly those on the other side of the so-called culture war, who see a threat to the healthy discourse of a pluralistic society.

"This is an effort to impose a particular far-right religious view, and political and social policies that result from that, on others," says Elliot Mincberg of People for the American Way, a group that advocates for a diverse society. "There's nothing wrong with trying to convince others to adopt their views, but [Dr. Kennedy's] effort is also to use the levers of government to force changes."

An energetic pastor who built Coral Ridge into a 10,000-member megachurch with far-reaching radio and TV audiences, the Rev. Dr. Kennedy regularly calls the US a Christian nation that should be governed by Christians. He has created a Center for Christian Statesmanship in Washington that seeks to evangelize members of Congress and their staffs, and to counsel conservative Christian officeholders.

Some critics suggest these views reflect far-right Presbyterian thinking, some of which extends to the realm of theocracy, the belief that God - or His representatives - should govern the state.

Frederick Carlson, author of "Eternal Hostility: the Struggle between Theocracy and Democracy," says that if Kennedy is not a theocrat, "he is certainly a dominionist," one who supports taking over and dominating the political process.

Kennedy is not in the theocratic camp, says John Aman, Coral Ridge spokesman. He does believe that "Christians should not sequester themselves inside their stained-glass ghettoes, but seek to be 'salt and light' - apply biblical moral truth and the Gospel - to every area of society."

It's apparent that those who've traveled here from 40 states are eager to do just that. Many of them say they are most motivated by signs of moral decline in America, concern for their children's future, and what they see as an effort to keep God and religious speech out of public life.

"The country is getting further away from Christian values, and we're being stifled," says Debbie Mochle-Young, of Santa Monica, Calif. "Other nationalities are coming to live here and say, 'We want our beliefs,' but they don't let you have yours." Nathan Lepper, an Air Force retiree active in politics in Florida, says he has "a personal passion to help America turn back to its moral and ethical bases."

Some are already involved in their communities - in antiabortion actions, in trying to prevent removal of feeding tubes from Terri Schiavo, or in efforts to oppose same-sex marriage by defining marriage as only between a man and a woman.

Gabriel Carpenter, from Dryden, N.Y., works at a local crisis pregnancy center and is a coordinator for the now-required sexual abstinence program in New York public schools. He and his wife, Penelope, say they hope to "learn more about how to share America's Christian heritage with others."

Christianity and patriotism are interwoven throughout the gathering, from Christian and American flags marched into the sanctuary, to red, white, and blue banners festooning the church complex, to a rousing "patriotic concert." Several speakers emphasize the idea that America's founders were largely Christian and that their intent was to establish a biblically based nation. (No mention is made of other influences on the Founding Fathers, such as Englightenment thinkers or issues of freedom of conscience.)

David Barton, a leading advocate for emphasizing Christianity in US history, deftly selects quotes from letters and historical documents to link major historical figures such as George Washington to a Christian vision, and to suggest that the courts and scholars in the last century have deliberately undermined the original intent of the Founding Fathers.

Critics, including historians and the Baptist Joint Committee, challenge the accuracy of some of Mr. Barton's work, including what he calls "the myth of separation of church and state."

In "Blessed Assurance: A History of Evangelicalism in America," religious historian Randall Balmer of Columbia University writes that a "contrived mythology about America's Christian origins" has been a factor in the reentry of evangelicals into political life, helping sustain the conservative swing in American politics. Barton and others say they are recapturing truths hidden behind a secularist version of history, while critics say they are producing revisionist history that cherry-picks facts and ignores historical evidence.

Rice warns Europeans on arms sales to China

BEIJING – Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice sternly warned European allies Sunday that they “should do nothing” that alters the military balance of power in Asia through sales of sophisticated weapons to China, suggesting that those arms ultimately could be directed at Americans. “It is the United States – not Europe – that has defended the Pacific,” Rice told a news conference in Seoul before she flew to Beijing for talks with Chinese officials. Later, like two of her predecessors, she attended church service at a government-sanctioned church, making a symbolic political statement about the lack of religious freedom in China.

The European Union had appeared all but certain this year to lift an embargo on weapons sales imposed after the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre of democracy demonstrators. U.S. officials have expressed dismay over the decision, especially after China passed a law this month authorizing the use of force against Taiwan if it moves toward formal independence. Rice also had talks this weekend in Japan and South Korea, both of which fear China will improve its military capabilities.

Rice cited U.S. concerns about the rise of Chinese military spending and the increasing sophistication of Chinese military power. “The European Union should do nothing to contribute to a circumstance in which Chinese military modernization draws on European technology or even the political decision to suggest that it could draw on European technology,” she said.

The United States will bolster its forces in response to such sales in order to keep the current military balance intact, she added.

Nearing the end of her weeklong tour of Asia, Rice consulted closely with officials in Tokyo, Seoul and Beijing about efforts to persuade North Korea to return to nuclear disarmament talks. Rice struck a careful public balance this weekend, offering softer diplomatic language while also visiting an underground military command center in South Korea.

the assbyte quotient of this comment is stupendous... we are unilaterally telling europe that they better not make profit off of Asia because that is our perview only. yet of course China and the rest of Asia have no interest whatsoever in purchasing sheit from us, because they don't want to be stuck protecting US dollars any more... what glaring idiotic mendacity by this moron...

the morning becomes hypocrisy

<> AHMADABAD, India, March 19 -- Hindu nationalists set fire to a PepsiCo warehouse in western India on Saturday to protest the U.S. denial of a visa to a state official because of his role in religious riots in 2002.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked the U.S. government to urgently reconsider its decision.
The State Department said Friday that it had denied a diplomatic visa to the Hindu nationalist chief minister of Gujarat state, Narendra Modi, and revoked his existing tourist/business visa under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act. That act bars people responsible for violations of religious freedom from getting a visa.

Now can't we imagine say India refusing to let Rice enter her country because she was involved in creating the mass riots in the middle east by her forcefully calling for the pre-emptive strike against Iraq. Or better, not allowing Baker to visit India since he was the architect of the riots that stopped the hand recounting in Florida that allowed the decision of the Supreme Court to appoint rather than elect Bush in 2000. Maybe it is like not allowing any of the folks in Florida who are protesting the removal of a food tube for some comatose chick. Give me a break people.

One word on Florida, find me one single believer who can point out a passage to me in their bible that says specifically that a person must keep a feeding tube in place in another person to maintain the non-functioning life of that person. Oh you can't?? why??? oooohhh you have to "interpret" passages you swear you are taking literally---you hypocritical bastards.

tóka he' hwo ic'i?

A new national defense strategy issued by the Pentagon calls for greater U.S. military efforts to keep foreign nations from becoming havens for terrorism or being undermined internally by such additional threats as insurgency, drugs and organized crime.

While U.S. forces have long helped to bolster foreign militaries through a variety of assistance programs, the new emphasis on aiding them against internal threats marks a significant departure from the traditional focus on guarding against potential cross-border aggression.

At a Pentagon briefing yesterday, defense officials made it clear that the revised strategy, which Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld approved earlier this month, reflects the Bush administration's priority -- since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks -- on taking preventive action around the world to block potential attacks or limit dangerous situations from mushrooming into worse crises that would require even greater U.S. military involvement.

The move to enhance U.S. military influence abroad also raises questions about the extent to which greater U.S. military involvement would be welcomed in foreign countries or seen as an infringement of national sovereignty.

"We're a bit on the horns of a dilemma," said a defense official involved in the review, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "On the one hand, we respect the sovereignty of nation states. On the other hand, 9/11 demonstrates that threats to our direct interests can emanate from non-state actors within nation-states. We're trying to square this by working with nation-states that are cooperative so that they can govern themselves and non-state actors cannot pose threats."

Release of the new strategy document ahead of the review marked another break with past practice. Previous reviews dating back a decade included a debate over strategy. By revising the strategy in advance, Rumsfeld and his senior aides this time have exerted greater guidance at the outset.

<> A classified "terms of reference" document for the review, signed by Rumsfeld on March 1 along with the unclassified strategy document, sets forth four "core" problems to be addressed, the defense official said.
The first is building partnerships with foreign nations to combat terrorism and other internal threats. The other three are protecting the U.S. homeland; preventing the use and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; and influencing the choices of countries such as Russia and China that, like the United States, are at a "strategic crossroads."

The Resolutions for Total Information Awareness and Homeland Security passed by the Neo-Feudal Lords of Capital of the Chosen Christian Fascist Leadership of the United States

1. The great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution now unfolding is a great revolution that touches people to their very souls and constitutes a new stage in the development of the socialist revolution in our country, a deeper and more extensive stage.

At the Resolute Forum of First Nomination for President of Governor Bush of Texas, Comrade Rove said: “To overthrow a political power, it is always necessary, first of all, to create public opinion, to do work in the ideological sphere.” This is true for the revolutionary class as well as for the counter-revolutionary class. This thesis of Comrade Rove has been proved entirely correct in practice.

Although the non-christian liberals has been overthrown, they are still trying to use the old ideas, culture, customs and habits of their socialist New Deal forebearers to corrupt the masses, capture their minds, and endeavour to stage a come-back into power. The CCFP must do just the opposite: it must meet head-on every challenge of the liberals in the ideological field and use the new ideas, culture, customs and habits of the CCFP to change the mental outlook of the whole of society. At present, our objective is to struggle against and crush those persons remaining in authority who are taking the liberal road, to criticize and repudiate the reactionary CCFP academic 'authorities' and the ideology of the CCFP and all other liberal agendas, particularly those in the media and academia, and to transform education, art and literature and all other parts of the superstructure that do not correspond to the Christian capitalist economic base, so as to facilitate the consolidation and development of the CCFP system.

2. The masses of the corporate stockholders, paid media spokespersons, Christian-led military, fascist intellectual leadership and the conservative Christian cadres form the main force in our great Cultural Revolution. Large numbers of revolutionary young people, previously unknown, have become courageous and daring path-breakers. They are vigorous in action and intelligent. Through control of our media using personal character assassinations and great deceptions, they argue things out, expose and criticize thoroughly, and launch resolute attacks on the open and hidden representatives of the remaining liberal citizenry. In such a great revolutionary movement, it is hardly avoidable that they should show shortcomings of one kind or another, but their main revolutionary orientation has been correct from the beginning. This is the main current in the great Chosen Christian Fascist Party Cultural Revolution. It is the main direction along which the great CCFP Cultural Revolution continues to advance.

Since the Cultural Revolution is a revolution, it inevitably meets with resistance. This resistance comes chiefly from those in authority who have wormed their way into the public mind and are taking the anti-corporate capitalist road. It also comes from the old force of habit in society. At present, this resistance is still fairly strong and stubborn. However, the great CCFP Cultural Revolution is, after all, an irresistible general trend. There is abundant evidence that such resistance will crumble fast once the masses become fully aroused.

Because the resistance is fairly strong, there will be reversals and even repeated reversals in this. It tempers the conservative Christian fascists and all other working people, especially the younger generation, teaches them lessons and gives them experience, and helps them to understand that the revolutionary road is a zigzag one, and not plain sailing.

3. The outcome of this great CCFP Cultural Revolution will be determined by whether the Democratic party leadership does or does not dare boldly to arouse the masses.

Currently, there are four different situations with regard to the leadership being given to the movement of cultural revolution by party organizations at various levels:

(1) There is the situation in which the persons in charge of CCFP organizations stand in the vanguard of the movement and dare to arouse the masses boldly. They put daring above everything else, they are dauntless corporate capitalist fighters and good pupils of all things Chairman Bush says. They advocate the personal character assassinations and great deceptions. They encourage the masses to expose every kind of environmental ghost and liberal monster and also to criticize the shortcomings and errors in the work of even the non-chosen Christians and Democrats in charge. This correct kind of leadership is the result of putting conservative Christian fascist politics in the forefront and the Bush/Cheney extended family thought in the lead.

(2) In many units, the conservative persons in charge have a very poor understanding of their task of leadership in this great struggle, their leadership is far from being conscientious and effective, and they accordingly find themselves encouraging non-conservative Christian type thought and in a weaker power position. They do not put enough fear above everything else, stick to outmoded ways of discussion and regulations, and are unwilling to break away from the liberal conventional practices and move ahead. They have been taken unawares by the new order of things, the revolutionary order of our chosen Christian capitalist masses, with the result that their leadership lags behind the situation, particularly in increasing our wealth, and they lag behind with the masses of the un-chosen.

(3) In some units, the persons in charge, who made mistakes of one kind or another in the past, are even more prone to not put fear and deception above everything else, being anxious that the remaining non-chosen, liberal masses will discover their weakness. Actually, if they make serious self-criticism and accept the criticism from the chosen, the CCFP party and its chosen congregations will make allowances for their mistakes. But if the persons in charge don't, they will continue to make mistakes and become obstacles to our CCFP cultural and dominion movement.

(4) Some units are controlled by those who have wormed their way into our party, and are taking the liberal-socialist road. Such persons in authority are extremely dangerous and must be exposed by the chosen masses; therefore they seek every possible pretext to suppress us and our mass cultural movement. They resort to such tactics as shifting the media targets for attack and turning black into white, particularly the media and bloggers, in an attempt to lead our movement astray. They will find themselves very isolated and no longer able to carry on as before, they will resort still more to intrigues, identifying our leadership, spreading malicious rumors that counter our deceptions, and blurring the distinction between conservative revolution and the liberal counter-revolution as much as they can, all for the purpose of attacking the great chosen Christian fascist revolutionaries.

What the Neo-Feudal Lords of Capital of the CCFP demands of all of the loyal conservative Christian communities at all levels is that they persevere in giving correct leadership, put daring above everything else, boldly arouse the non-critical thinking masses, change the state of weakness and incompetence where it exists, encourage those non-chosen allies who have made mistakes but are willing to correct them to cast off their anxieties, their mental burdens and join in the struggle, and dismiss from their public posts all those in academic and media authority who are taking the liberal thinking road and so make possible the recapture of the leadership for our great Chosen Christian Fascist revolutionaries.

4. In the great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution, the only method is for the chosen masses to liberate themselves from any contact with the liberal social environmental movements, and any method of doing things on their behalf must not be used.

Trust the chosen Christian fascists, rely on them and respect their initiative. Cast out fear. Don't be afraid of the momentary disorder. Chairman Bush and family have often told us that revolution cannot be so very refined, so gentle, so temperate, kind, courteous, restrained and magnanimous: “The battle will take many years.” Let the chosen masses educate themselves in this great Christian dominion revolutionary movement and learn to distinguish between right and wrong and between correct and incorrect ways of doing things.

Make the fullest use of personal character assassinations and great deceptions to argue matters out, so that our chosen masses can clarify the correct views, criticize the wrong views and expose all the environmentalists and hideous liberal and feminist intellectuals. In this way the chosen will be able to raise their political consciousness in the course of the struggle, enhance their abilities and talents, distinguish right from wrong and draw a clear line between all of the enemy and ourselves.

5. Who are our enemies? Who are our friends? This is a question of the first importance for the revolution and it is likewise a question of the first importance for the great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution.

Party leadership should be good at discovering the right and developing and strengthening the ranks of the right, and should firmly rely on the chosen christian revolutionary right. During the movement this is the only way to isolate thoroughly the most reactionary liberals, win over the non-chosen middle and unite with the great christian fascist majority so that by the end of the movement we shall achieve the unity of more than 95 per cent of our population.

Concentrate all forces to strike at the handful of ultra-reactionary liberal social justice advocates and counter-revolutionary environmentalists, and expose and criticize to the chosen faithful their crimes against the CCFP, against capitalism and against Bush’s thoughts so as to isolate them to the maximum.

The main target of the present movement is those within our party who are in authority and are taking the un-chosen, anti-fascist road.

Care should be taken to distinguish strictly between the anti-fascist, anti-capitalist liberals and those who support the party and capitalism but have said or done something wrong or have written some bad articles or other works.

Care should be taken to distinguish strictly between the reactionary liberal, social-justice, scholar despots and ‘authorities' on the one hand and people who have the ordinary, but incorrect conservative academic ideas on the other.

6. A strict distinction must be made between the two different types of contradictions: those among the people and those between our enemies and ourselves. Contradictions among the people must not be made into contradictions between the enemy, and ourselves nor must contradictions between the enemy and ourselves be regarded as those among the people.

It is normal for the masses to hold different views. Contention between different views is unavoidable, necessary and beneficial. In the course of normal and full debate, the masses will affirm what is right, correct what is wrong and gradually reach unanimity.

The method to be used in propaganda and the media is to present the deceptions, reason things out based on faith, and persuade through distortions and lies. Any method of suggesting a minority holding different views to submit is permissible. The minority should be chastised, because sometimes the truth is with the minority. Even if the minority suggests that they are chosen, they should still not be allowed to argue their case and share their views.

When there is a discussion, it should not be conducted by reasoning and rational thinking, but by coercion or force, through rude interruption and control of the sound.

In the course of spreading propaganda, every chosen christian fascist should be good at thinking things out for himself, based on their articles of faith and should develop the CCFP spirit of daring to promote the bible, daring to speak out and tell others to shut up, and daring to act up when necessary to silence criticisms. On the premise that they have the same main orientation, revolutionary comrades should, for the sake of strengthening unity, insist on endless distractions over side issues.

7. In certain schools, units, and work teams of the Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution, some of the persons in charge have organized counter-attacks against the masses that have proposed character assassinations against them. These people have even advanced such ideas as: global warming science and environmental dangers in opposition to our party's Neo-Feudal Lords of Capital; demeaning the economic agendas of our party and its fascist controlled capitalism; promoting counter-revolutionary rational thinking against our faith based realities. In this way it is inevitable that their blows will fall on some of our really revolutionary activists. This is an error on matters of orientation, an error of line, and is absolutely impermissible.

A number of persons who suffer from serious ideological errors, and particularly some of the anti-party and anti-capitalist liberals, are taking advantages of certain shortcomings and mistakes in our conservative christian mass movement to spread science and rational thought, and engage in agitation, deliberately branding some of our masses as 'counter-revolutionaries.' It is necessary to beware of such 'pick-pockets' and expose their tricks in good time.

In the course of the movement, with the exception of cases of active counter- revolutionaries where there is clear evidence of crimes such as revealing the factual evidence, promoting scientific agendas, stealing any and all of the newly classified state secrets, which should be handled in accordance with the law, no measures should be taken against students at universities, colleges, middle schools and primary schools because of problems that arise in the movement. To prevent the struggle from being diverted from its main objective, it is not allowed, whatever the pretext, to incite the masses to struggle against each other or the students to do likewise. Even proven liberals should be dealt with on the merits of each case, through manipulation of salary criteria and testing regimens, at a later stage of the movement.

8. The chosen conservative christian cadres all fall roughly into the following four categories:

(1) the faithful chosen;

(2) not yet chosen but shall be received in the congregation of the faithful;

(3) those who have made serious mistakes but have not become anti-fascist, anti-capitalist liberals;

(4) the small number of non-believing, rational thinking, anti-fascist, anti-capitalist liberals.

in ordinary situations, the first two categories are the great majority.

The non-believing, rational thinking, anti-fascist, anti-capitalist liberals must be completely discredited and their influence eliminated. At the same time, they should be given a way out so that they can turn over a new leaf.

9. Many new things have begun to emerge in the great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution. The cultural revolutionary groups, committees and other organizational forms created by the chosen majority in many schools and units are something new and of great historic importance.

These cultural revolutionary groups, committees and congresses are excellent new forms of organization whereby under the leadership of the Chosen Christian Fascist Party the masses are educating themselves. They are an excellent bridge to keep our party in close contact with the masses. They are organs of power of the Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution.

The struggle of the conservative christian fascists against the old ideas, culture, customs and habits left over from all the socialist liberal masses over thousands of years will necessarily take a very, very long time. Therefore, the leadership of the Chosen Christian Fascist party, committees and congresses should not be temporary organizations but permanent, standing mass organizations, controlling all US institutions and rewriting the Constitution. They are suitable not only for colleges, schools and government and dinner organizations, but generally also for factories, mines, other enterprises, urban districts and villages.

It is necessary to institute a system of general elections, like that of the 2004 electronically controlled and manipulated one, for electing members to our Chosen Christian Fascist Party leadership positions and committees and delegates to the Chosen Christian Fascist Party congresses. The lists of candidates should be put forward by the chosen masses after full discussion, and the elections should be held after the chosen have discussed the lists over and over again.

The chosen are not entitled at any time to criticize members of the cultural revolutionary Chosen Christian Fascist Party leadership groups and committees and delegates elected to the Chosen Christian Fascist controlled Congress. If these members or delegates prove incompetent, they can be replaced through manipulation of elections or suffer the necessary character assassinations and ridicule in our media.

The conservative christian cultural revolutionary groups, committees and congresses in colleges and schools should consist mainly of representatives of the christian faithful students. At the same time, they should have a growing and controlling number of chosen representatives of the CCFP teaching staff and workers.

10. In the great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution a most important task is to transform the old educational system and the old principles and methods of teaching.

In this great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution, the phenomenon of our schools being dominated by liberal, anti-christian intellectuals must be completely changed.

In every kind of school we must apply thoroughly the policy advanced by Chairman Bush, of education serving christian fascist politics and education being combined with productive labor, so as to enable those receiving an education to develop morally, intellectually and physically and to become supporting communties with faith-based Christian consciousness and culture.

The period of schooling should be shortened. Courses should be fewer and better. The teaching material should be thoroughly transformed rid of science and filled with the literal truths of our bibles, in some cases beginning with simplifying the revelations of end days and final times for the children to alleviate their fears. While their main task is to study, students should also learn other things. That is to say, in addition to their studies they should also learn industrial work, farming and military affairs, and take part in the struggles of the Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution as they occur to criticize the bourgeoisie.

11. In the course of the mass movement of the Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution, the criticism of liberal and democratic ideology should be well combined with the dissemination of the world outlook and of our chosen christian capitalist views, and of the Bush/Cheney/DeLay/Rove/Strauss thinking.

Criticism should be organized against typical liberal anti-capitalist representatives who have wormed their way into the chosen party and typical reactionary liberal academic 'authorities', and this should include criticism of various kinds of liberal anti-fascist, anti-christian reactionary views in philosophy, history, political economy and education, in works and theories of literature and art, in maintaining theories of natural sciences, and in other fields.

Criticism of anyone by name in the press should be decided after discussion by the committee of the chosen christian leadership at the same level, and in some cases submitted to the CCFP committee at a higher level for approval.

12. As regards scientists, technicians and ordinary members of working staffs, as long as they are patriotic, work energetically, are not against the CCFP mandates and curriculum, and maintain no illicit relation with any foreign country, we should in the present movement continue to apply the policy of 'unity, criticism, unity'. Special care should be taken of those scientists and scientific and technical personnel who have made contributions to our faith-based creationist agendas and to our anti-environmental regulation reforms. Efforts should be made to help them gradually transform their world outlook and their style of work.

13. The cultural and educational units and leading organs of the Chosen Christian Fascist Party and government in the large and medium cities are the points of concentration of the present Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution.

The great Cultural Christian Fascist education movement in both city and countryside must be raised to a higher level. Efforts should be made to conduct these two movements in close combination. Arrangements to this effect may be made by various CCFP regions and departments in the light of specific conditions that warrant attention and action.

The Chosen Christian Fascist education movement now going on in the countryside and in enterprises in the cities should not be upset where the original arrangements are appropriate and the movement is going well, but should continue in accordance with the original arrangements. However, the questions that are arising in the present great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution should be put to the chosen faithful for discussion at a proper time, so as to further foster vigorously conservative christian ideology and eradicate liberal ideology.

In some places, the great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution is being used as the focus in order to add momentum to the conservative christian education movement and clean things up in the fields of science, politics, ideology, organization and economy. This may be done where the local chosen CCFP committees think it appropriate.

14. The aim of the great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution is to revolutionize people's ideology and as a consequence to achieve greater, faster, better and more economical results in all fields of work. If the masses are fully aroused and proper arrangements are made, it is possible to carry on both the Cultural Revolution and production without one hampering the other, while guaranteeing high quality in all our work.

The great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution is a powerful motive force for the development of the capitalist and fascist productive forces in our country. Any ideas of counter-posing the great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution against the development of means of capital production based on impoverishing the non-chosen masses are incorrect.

15. In the armed forces, the Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution and the conservative christian education movement should be carried out in accordance with the instructions of the Project for a New American Century adopted by the Neo-Feudal Lords of Capital and the Defense Department of the Halliburton/Rumsfeld military industrial alliance.

16. In the great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution it is imperative to hold aloft the great US flag of Bush/Cheney/DeLay/Rove/Strauss thought and put conservative christian politics in command. The movement for the creative study and application of Chairman Bush’s works should be carried forward among the chosen workers, peasants and soldiers, the cadres and the intellectuals, and Bush/Cheney/DeLay/Rove/Strauss thought should be taken as the guide for action in the Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution.

In this complex great Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution Party committees at all levels must study and apply Chairman Bush’s works all the more conscientiously and in a creative way. In particular, they must study over and over again Chairman Bush’s speeches on the Chosen Christian Fascist Cultural Revolution and on the Chosen Christian Fascist Party's methods of leadership, such as necessary for a New Global Chosen Christian Fascist Democracy.

Chosen Christian Fascist Party committees at all levels must abide by the directions given by Chairman Bush over the years, namely that they should thoroughly apply the mass line of 'from the masses and to the masses' and that they should be pupils before they become teachers. They should try to avoid being one-sided or narrow. They should foster christian dialectics and oppose metaphysics, science, and scholasticism.

Crude Oil Surges to Record on US Gasoline Inventory Decline
US 4th-Qtr Current Account Deficit Grows to Record (Update3)
US May Help India to Build Nuclear Power Plant
EPA's mercury rule attacked
whoa--could it be that as the US toxifies its own environment, impoverishes its population, undermines the general health and welfare of all of its citizens, assists other nations in building nuclear sites, invades more nations to control the flow of fossil fuels--- could it be that we are destined to become a pitiful third world nation like all the rest? Is there any question that china and india are the world's fastest growing economies and that japan is going to be more economically stable in its decline because they have a radically shrinking population? EU nations will be able to solve their minority culture issues more readily because they take care of their populations first, and have been doing so for a couple of thousand years.

The only missing element in all of this is South America. Seemingly overlooked by the bulk of the media and focus of the attention of the moneyed interests, the spin down south doesn't begin to do it justice. There are powerful movements set in motion to socialize and restructure corporate relations designed to increase the welfare of the poorest. Indeed the only nation that seems to care not one wit about its poor right now in the world is the US. Something to ponder and realize. Our poor will be intentionally made poorer, and unhealthier. Why???

chinois et l'etats unit

<>The Bush administration said Monday that China's threat to use force to stop any Taiwanese move toward independence is an "unfortunate" development that could increase tensions in the region. "We view the adoption of the anti-secession law as unfortunate," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said. "It does not serve the purpose of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. We believe it runs counter to recent progress in cross-Strait relations."
Taiwan's ruling party responded to Beijing's anti-secession law Monday with a bill authorizing the president to use non-peaceful action in its defense. The Democratic Progressive Party's bill give President Chen Shui-bian sweeping powers to take measures including referendums without the Legislature's permission, the Taipei Times said. The party's draft states Taiwan issue is not a part of China's domestic affairs but an international matter, and it is necessary and urgent to swiftly enact counter-legislation to deter China's annexation efforts.
The opposition Taiwan Solidarity Union has also drafted a similar measure saying Taiwan has existed alongside China since the founding of the People's Republic of China Oct. 1, 1949, and states Taiwan is already an independent sovereign state and it is not an issue for Taiwan to declare independence or seek separation from China.

tSOOO we find two nations clearly opposed to one another, with specific agendas to use WMD's against one another. And the US has already proven that preemptive warfare is a necessary and appropriate way to affect global positioning. Thus it is not only conceivable, but entirely within the bounds of new world policies for one or the other of China's to take out the other. Bush of course has the audacity to suggest that that isn't appropriate. Why? Well geez, it isn't his to do, and if it isn't his way there is no way. One of the subtle stupid messages that is so easily and conveniently overlooked by those who suggest that these new democratic actions in the MidEast were a beneficial offshoot of the invasion, and justifying it. However, the principle reason for the illegal and unlawful, constitution violating invasion was to preemptively keep another nation from attacking us. That reason will always have to be taken into account. Otherwise, ponder the rationale for China removing the threat of Taiwan military weaponry if they were merely to suggest it was in the best interest of a "people's democracy!"

Man Kills Seven, Himself at Wis. Hotel
Ga. Suspect Could Appear in Court Monday
Lefkow case puts security in spotlight
Activists rally to save Terri Schiavo

wow this has been a week; killing seems to be the central topic to the consciousness of human beings. A pissed off bankrupt dude who was unable to use lawyers to get some malpractice justice kills a couple of folks of a judge; an alleged rapist takes down a group in a courtroom in GA hoping for some inexplicable reason to be set free; a woman in florida who has been in a brain dead coma is set to have the life sustaining electronics disconnected making groups of hermeneutically challenged believers fight to save her meaningless suffering filled life; and then, to top it off, a dumbass gets up in an evangelical church service and wipes out a family and a few others. Yeah those ten commandments are held deeply by these people.

I suppose it would just be another run amok story spreading across all this is the US hadn't been belligerently inticing violence around the world, and then excusing its worst manifestations as piques of war. I suppose we could chalk it up to too much game violence, if any of these people were actually under the age of 40 and were known to be gamers. But mostly i suppose that in five days all of this will no longer be being discussed in any of the main stream media again, thus making the frustration of insane pressure on humans to conform to ever tightening shrouds of mass insanity caused by a way of life so horribly out of balance and skewed towards a feudal serfdom to enshrine the rich all the more crazy.

There is the other piece of this that is even more bizarre. The idea that thousands of people can be led to hold consensual and simultaneous beliefs that are neither based on fact nor based on sound theological precepts. To keep someone alive in a complete vegetative coma is in essence agreeing to extend the suffering of that person, beyond that being and onto the population around them. Unlike the flaggelates in the middle ages, these post-modern versions of plague survivors, wish to inflict the pain and suffering on the living, but always on other living and not themselves. At the very least they should offer the economic opportunities for this vision of their doing their creators(and in this case that is a bunch of fanatical zealots) wishes. Make the dumbasses pay for their beliefs! See how long that lasts.

Utinam billionari spatium proprium tuum invadant!

691 control $2.2 trillion dollars each and every year. That would be similar to the 535 members of the House and Senate controlling that same amount, with one huge exception. These 691 are responsible to no one about any of their decisions. They are the non-elected, non-selected, self appointed neo-feudal lords of capital. Beneath them are another ten million or so individuals who control another $18.6 trillion of the earth's economy. If we take this crusty bunch of the human population, roughly 0.001% of them, we discover that they literally own more than 70% of the wealth of the entire planet. If ever there was a disproportionate schism between the rich and poor, we have now locked ourselves to it.
Even in the days of world wide feudalism between say 350--1500 CE, more of the poor had more access to more resources. Literally millions of people could access their needs without having to adhere to the edicts of their feudal lords. The neo-feudal lords are in fact so powerful that literally only those same few millions, in terms of numbers continue to have access, while billions of people must absolutely swear fealty, using the various forms of chosen currency, to acquire their basic needs. It is the dawning of a new age of unmitigatable disasters.

In 1980 the US government researchers determined that by 2050 200 million people will starve to death each year if the behaviors of the people of the planet did not change. They were wrong. The behaviors changed, for the worse, and we are already living with tens of millions starving to death each year. In fact thousands in the US are starving to death. Sure their deaths are reported as heart problems or kidney failure or liver problems, but that is what kills them finally. The principle cause is starvation. Here in this country, where without bowing on both knees to the lords of capital one will never be able to access any of one's needs.

wrath of loki

"But have the Democrats learned anything from this? In my opinion, very little. They are now scurrying around frantically trying to come up with "moral values," and religious connections, accepting the mainstream media's nonsense the pseudo-religionists' claim that they were the tipping point which provided the margin of victory elevating G. W. Bush to the White House for another four years."
There is more to the underbelly of this beast. The whole of the left is struggling to ameliorate their failure to attract moneyed interests. It is never about the issues nor the voters, but about attracting money and media attention. This is happening at the local levels within the environmental in which i have spend considerable time and energy. They have reviewed and looked at the statistics and financial records and long term projections for the economy and so forth, and have abandoned their real constituency in order to attract financial support from the right. why??

Age i think is critical. The old vanguard, myself included, who held onto the idealism of deep ecological revelations, has been moved from the positions of power within the movements by demographics. Short sighted younger leadership evaluates their overall financial interests in relation to the shrinking opportunities to save habitats. In order to attract the money they think they can attract(a big supposition that seems rather misguided) they are adapting the strategies of the right. Unfortunately, it is the strategies themselves that are bogus and morally bankrupt; strategies that not only will not gain advantages(since they are predicated on cannibalistic enterprises greedly focussed on immediate individual benefits) but will fail to hold onto the constituency that they are assuming they would not lose in the first place. Their thinking is fundamentally flawed, in terms of their overall environmental analysis, and the short term benefits of literally dressing up to meet the hopes of bringing in capital will be seriously detrimental to the ecosystems they intend to protect. Polling as a means of assigning investments of time and energy towards acquiring economic resources is not synonymous with understanding that the environment cannot be assigned economic value if it is intended to be protected.

We are truly at an abyss when the left moves right thinking it can move the right left. It will not happen. What will happen is that the left will be the right's own left and that is a far different thing than being the left. And in all of this the planet will suffer tremendously, the starving and impoverishment of people will lead to the destruction of habitats, in turn destroying any remaining quality in the air and water. It is moving closer and closer to being over.

unyawapi

"The governing party has increasingly struck a religious tone in an aggressive foreign policy that seems much more nationalist than Christian, while the opposition party has offered more confusion than clarity. In any election we choose between very imperfect choices. Yet it is always important to examine what is at stake prayerfully and theologically."
" I asked if he thought it was important that so many people associated with the ideas behind U.S. foreign policy were Straussians. He definitely demurred. Wolfowitz does not consider himself to be a Straussian. He says he does not find political philosophy all that exciting and Allan Bloom found him to be a disappointment in this regard, but a “successful disappointment,” which appealed to Bloom. He says when he gets together with real Straussians he becomes impatient with the level of abstraction of the discussion. He does not think Strauss is in any way important to the conduct of U.S. foreign policy."

Taking these two threads together presents an interesting picture of the nature of the expressed political philosophy of the culture as a whole. Wolfie may demur on Straussian direct influence, but will not deny that as a nation we project a Randian/Straussian objectivist theology that we have been divinely blessed with the necessary means to impose our own individual wills upon the blessings of this created landscape, and that those who resist us, even our own families and friends and communities, must bow down to us because we are number one. It is as if the whole of the theological and philosophical national ethos is premised on just that high school adolescent cheer. If you say it long enough and loud enough you can convince your peers to believe it. My Chevy is better than your Ford, but his Dodge Ram is cooler than that Toyota???

Yes, thus the national religious tone is the Straussian claim of superior position that "my God is number one." Of course there are lots and lots of things incredibly wrong with this position: hermeneutics, soteriological issues, failure to comprehend basic theological tenants, comprehensive knowledge of non-faith based economics, and so far forth. But the real problem is that none of these matter to the believer, not a one of them. In this new millenium, faith is impregnated with R/S objectivist individual power leading the new believer towards a doctrine of dogmatic orthodoxy espoused not by clerics but by political priests of the words. Christianity has been hijacked, bastardized, soundbited, reductio absurdum, until a national theology is held in place by the bombardment of necessary deceptions and lies. Ask a believer about one of their deeply held convictions, one of the foundational pins of their soteriological knowledge, and they will recite, not biblical texts or evangelical injunctions but the ravings of Bush and Coulter and RushOReallyHan. Ask them to site the text and they cannot. Ask them to accept as literally true other laws and commandments and edicts and they will not. Ask them to lay claim to their clearest expression of hope and faith and it will be the US is number one. That says it all for them.

And then there is this one about our new proposed Ambassador to the UN
Bolton is also a longtime activist in the Federalist Society, an association of right-wing, nationalistic lawyers who have been
particularly opposed to the application of international or foreign law in their decisions—a practice that they say threatens U.S. sovereignty. The Society is also strongly opposed to non-governmental organizations that seek the adoption of international law and standards in the United States. Along with AEI, the Society sponsors ''NGOWatch'' which seeks to expose such efforts, as well as the funding sources of NGOs that take such positions.
His effectiveness gained him a promotion under President H.W. Bush to the position of assistant secretary of state for international organizations, a post he held until 1993 when he joined first the right-wing Manhattan Institute and then the neoconservative-dominated American Enterprise Institute (AEI), home to such prominent hawks as former UN Ambassador Jeanne Kirkpatrick, former Defense Policy Board Chairman Richard Perle and Cheney's spouse, Lynne Cheney.

i`sta' wi`ca niyan wi

my oh my what a wonderful day, plenty of sunshine, going my way. well not really, lots of clouds actually.

There is a growing chasm schism thang happening in this country around the issues of "christian" moral values. We have these staunch passionate advocates for the right for embryonic cells to live, the elimination of any possible rights for old people to choose to die, the demands that only the Ten Commandments be posted in public places, the refusal to acknowledge stem cell research and genetic manipulation of some human genes, and of course the support for the state to kill for them. If this reads like a list of severely hypocritical divergent paradoxical beliefs, then i have done my job. These people really do believe this; they afterall can hold the belief that what they read in two verses of one of their bibles, what would appear in the most literal sense to be in direct contradiction of one another, are fundamentally true at the same time. Most psychology researchers and clinicians would say this is in many ways a sign of psychosis, a coginitive dissonance that is irreconcilable in our daily lives. But that sort of diagnosis doesn't stop the leadership of these people from continuing to advocate for a greater and greater separation from reality.

Let's take the claim made by a supporter of the public display of the 10 commandments. Disregarding the entire history of biblical text, exegesis, hermeneutical inquiries into the veracity of translations, the diversity of no less than 37 separate renderings sold contemporaneously at local bookstores, and the notion that there are such other chapters of laws and rules as Leviticus, Deuterotomy, Numbers, and the Letters; we discover that this person has taken it upon himself to "save" our "souls from hell." How did this human being become so empowered to embark on this path of controlling the salvation of others? Who told him to do so?? Now of course, he would say God, but if questioned he would be forced to deny that God actually told him. He could never admit that he heard the voice of God in his head. That would be admitting psychosis. So he has to claim that he was moved to do so by God's will. How did this occur?

Some transformative experience that led to his accepting God in him through the God's word in the holy bible. Deconstruct this. Take it apart and discover that this rote regurgitated flippant response that so easily flows off the tongues of these folks is comprised of several disassociative factors. At the most basic levels of conscious thought process, this person must admit that they are cognitively interpreting their existence in such a way that they "assume" the existence of other than human consciousness that has the will and desire to control them. Since admitting that these messages can not come from "voices", as that would be 'crazy,' the person must confess that at some point a volitional act of their own chose to "assume" that this divinity "speaks" through the textual words found on pieces of paper. How did this person find these pieces of paper??? God showed them?? They again can't admit that for a number of reasons. Therefore there must be an intermediary, or several intermediaries, who have acted in consort to express for this person the intent of the divine to govern and control their life. To hold that there are no intermediaries, that one has a direct relationship w/ god, but that there were intermediaries who led the person and interpreted the words and guided the believer, to have a direct relationship w/ god is of course holding two contradictory truths to be true. Again, this is psychotic.

The further this person devolves into this type of psychosis the more likely they are to experience the sense of delusions of great power over the souls of others. Afterall, they hold a belief that this litany of folks--in this book they believe to be literally true, except for the parts that they don't believe to be literally true because the voice that does not tell them what to do told them that those parts weren't to be believed--are divinely blessed to hold just such power. Not only is this power the power to create a personal orientation to a consensual reality based on dischordant elements, but this power has the power to create realms that are not apparent to those who do not have the power, but yet have the power to control everyone. The delusion of power to determine the fate of others, and to be able to create salvation, ignores some of the most substantive literal textual passages these same folks hold as true. Thus once again they are forced by this psychosis to accept that they are empowered to do the work of the only person who is literally given that power in these chapters and verses.

Do you see my point? This can't possibly make any sense. That is why, the leadership of these people, who actually know that none of it is true, and that they are enjoying the capitalistic enhancements that creating this mass psychosis affords them, need to deny the rest of the population from the basic core elements of education, rational critical thinking, and observable evaluatory science. It is massively unfortunate that these same folks have come to guide their zombie minions to hold the views that the state is allowed to kill whomever it chooses--i mean don't you love the inherent insanity of imposing the death penalty on a person who gets an abortion because the fetus and pregnancy would kill the person.

i ska eh???

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A sharp rally in oil prices to near-record peaks stalled on Friday after OPEC-member Nigeria said the cartel may agree later this month to raise output to cool the red-hot market. Nigeria's presidential advisor on petroleum, Edmund Daukoru, told Reuters in an interview that members were eager to prevent high prices from damaging world economic growth and could agree to raise quotas or relax compliance. "I can see two potential outcomes: that discipline would be relaxed so everybody could really do close to their available potential, except Saudi Arabia. We may, on the other hand, take a definite increase in production, in quota," Daukoru said.

Now this is so terribly emblematic of the crucial issues facing the planet today. A staff writer for Reuters chooses the terms: rally, near-record peaks, red-hot market, to portray the impact of increased oil prices. Is this the US position, that high oil prices are good for this country??? I certainly do not think so. A surge in oil prices to new highs was relieved after Nigeria suggested that raising output would ease the pressure on energy prices around the world. Doesn't that sound better? But no, this is about profit and big dollars and showing the stock market as being wise and good. Why? Because what other entity is trying to convince the US population to remove two trillion dollars of guaranteed funds from protected bonds and place those dollars into fragile, volatile dangerous markets where percents are taken immediately as fees just to do the investing.

Scalia Admits he has a problem...

By Nick Johnson, Morons.org

US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia finally reached step one of any recovery program: admitting he has a problem. The first thing he's said in a long time that resonated as absolutely true was this:
I don't see why the one is good and the other is bad.
This, folks, is a US Supreme Court Justice admitting he cannot bear judicial burden... something we have suspected here for quite a long time. In context, Scalia finds himself baffled about why certain displays of the Ten Commandments on public property are acceptable while others are not. His cognitive dissonance prevents him from understanding that sometimes legislative grey areas exist that must be interpreted judicially.

this is not unlike Bush telling people that they need to take their money out of SS because he can't be trusted to make good intelligent decisions with it. Which of course is telling us that he can't make intelligent decisions but is still asking us to trust his decision to privatize social security?

Scalia's an idiot

Justice Antonin Scalia was clearly the biggest supporter of the displays, asserting repeatedly that the message conveyed by the Ten Commandments is both deeply religious and entirely constitutional. Even though Scalia was supportive, he chided Abbott at one point for downplaying the religious meaning of the Ten Commandments. It would be a “pyrrhic victory,” Scalia said, if Ten Commandment displays were allowed on the theory that they were secular. “Our laws come from God. If you don’t believe it sends that message, you’re kidding yourself.”

"our laws come from God"? Say that again? I didn't know that. In fact i was pretty damn sure that the laws were created by lobbyists, corporate legal minds, various think tanks, middling level bureaucrats working under orders and so forth. Indeed, i can't see how God has created a single law whatsoever. For Scalia to hold this position he must hold several disassociative positions simulataneously. That, according to both Law and the DSM is a sign/symptom of psychosis. Now God makes a law that holds that holding God's contradictory laws is insane. Isn't that a fine kettle of bread and fishes. In order to believe in the Ten commandments as god's law one must believe that various texts created by a bunch of different people, all with different perspectives and agendas, tell a "story" about someone, who for all archaeological evidence that has ever been documented, did not exist. If you believe that you have to accept that this one god told this one dude to tell a bunch of people that their other gods weren't as cool as he was. Where did these other gods come from if there is only one god?

But more bizarre is the failure of this line of thinking in accessing the actually laws and rules of God as they are expressed most clearly in the Torah. Just like the disassociative nature of the assumption, the complete ignoring of God's laws by one group to claim that they are beholden to god's laws, require a necessary and fundamental psychotic break. Deuterotomy and Numbers are indices of gods laws, virtually none of which are every followed or mentioned, unless you choose to buy kosher. And keep in mind that kosher certifying rabiis love the idea of artificial ingredients in everything because they can guarantee the kosherness. Why? Because for some inexplicable reason God didn't write text about the variances and differences of artificial ingredients. Nor has god supposedly written anything else at all since say a bunch of flakes in the roman empire, determined to create underlying revolutionary dialogs, wrote down some other stories.

Look, the most generous reading of the Declaration of Independence holds that even God didn't give laws. Only rights that are protected by the people who create governments and laws. If you truly worry about the future of the US you first have to worry about the mental stability of certain Supreme Court justices.

Makha piya áya

People may feel that their voices and opinions are not being recognized, but they still express(in dozens of polls) their connection to aspects of their governments. We need them to actually. It is in the little stuff, literally at the street level; fixing potholes, keeping parks open, having public schools, knowing that emergency services are there at the touch of 911, participating in (Cinti) dozens upon dozens of community groups and organizations.
We need to define what a better working government is. Cicero reminds us all that "politics is the art of compromise" in the affairs of the governing of the people. We live in a very complicated society, where layers upon layers of intersecting issues must be addressed to keep it functioning, to maintain its being. In order to improve it at all, we must more fully understand how we can better make the compromises through enlightened, educated, participatory action. This is the Common Ground!!

We live in a social/cultural milieu that requires all of us to first access economic value in order to fulfill our needs. Basic human needs no longer are accessible freely. For example: If we want clean pure water, we must use $$ to access it, whether we choose to do so as a large group or community through taxation and subsequent water treatment or as individuals buying water filters and/or bottled water. Corporations need profits to meet their shareholders demands that now require them to dispense with efforts to control their toxic pollutioning of water and through lessening of their tax burdens. They can use their economic power to produce legislative results that favor their profitability. Yet through ignoring the impacts of these choices the corporations are in every way moving the burden of these profits onto communities and individuals. Health care costs rise as clean water diminishes. The overall tax base of communities shifts from corporate and stakeholders to the citizens and local businesses. While they don't have the economic power to enact their agendas they don't want to pay more than their fair share of taxes and costs for simply maintaining their lives. Where are we going to find common ground here? How are we going to demonstrate to a diverse group of special interests (as Brian pointed out--a thousand committees) that they can work towards improving their governments, when they can't understand or acknowledge the necessary and fundamental compromises.
Now we know, us being the we here, that there are better ways for corporations to act in relation to the environment that would not reduce their profitability, but would require them to reduce their overall profits(two very different things). These actions however fly in the face of those financial interests who rely on the profits, not profitability, to continue to make their own profits. To "regulate" the corporate behaviors that pollute water (and we could discuss air, food, shelter, clothing, energy, relationship, etc. as any of the factors for this example) the citizens would need to be empowered and enlightened to act in very large numbers. To garner such diverse support(remember we just want cleaner water) there would need to be many significant compromises. Competing corporate interests would need to faciliate some of this, but also some surprising basic social political views would need to be mediated. We can't simply say that people are: are burnt out, tired, apathetic, polarized, uninformed. This isn't true; they are overwhelmed by the complexity of the processes and decisions necessary to act. A great number of the "middle 50%" of the citizenry are identifying with libertarian views coupled with more immediate concerns with their own personal welfare. If we surveyed those that participate on the web forums i believe we would be able to identify many contradictory positions held to be true by most of the people. Common ground has to become internalized before it becomes communitarian. What tools, perspectives, strategies do we have in our own minds at this very moment that can work to create common ground within individual beings??? It is one thing to say this, it is quite another to do it.

The overwhelming success of the conservative message machine has been its simplicity in presenting a mindset construct for its believers. It does so with some powerful either/or frameworks. The earth is abundant, it was given to us, we can use it anyway we want. Profit is good, property is the reward of profit giving one dominion over property to do with as one wants. There are chosen people and there are not chosen people. There are winners and losers. There is work and there is play. Play is the reward for work, upon which one can choose to acquire and use property to increase the thrills of play(think fossil fuel based recreational vehicle use--big in the Cincy area). And so far forth.

Unfortunately in this formulaic message are embedded lots of hidden ones. Among these hidden ones are also competing interests. If i sell fuel i don't want health care corporations to increase their profits at the expense of people choosing to use more fuel for recreation. If i own some real estate i don't want people playing on it, so i want public places designated for that play, but i don't want ot use my economic resources to pay for it. If i believe that everyone who is poor has chosen that path and that they can do something about it without governmental assistance, then i need to regulate capitalism in order to prevent increases in joblessness and healthcare crisis bankruptcies, and so forth. When these hidden factors arise, they overwhelm the sensibilities of the citizens and they choose to offload their democratic responsibilities on their chose representatives, who have already been selected by various competing economic interests to promote and foster specific legistlative responses.

We all know this. But i haven't seen anything other than platitudes and aphorisms that would provide any opening of common ground. 21st century post-modern life is extraordinarily complicated. Rectifying some sort of internal peaceful coherent willingness to compromise our own values and beliefs in order to embrace a 'better democracy" isn't easy. I don't see us being able to do that. I don't think we want to. And therein lies the problem. When i reread what Dave first wrote there is an underlying progressive populist sentiment. He wants to hold that the more informed and educated the electorate becomes the less likely they will be to hold views that are detrimental to their own well being. I don't think this is true. One of the many many things Nick and Sloane have taught me over the years is that we leftist progressive types tend to choose to ignore our own complicities in using fossil fuels and supporting corrupt institutions and so forth. Until we embrace that duplicity we will find it difficult to be given credit for our efforts at creating common ground.
