"Dominionism seeks to replace democracy with a theocratic elite that would govern by imposing their interpretation of Biblical law ... Women would be largely relegated to hearth and home. Insufficiently Christian men would be denied citizenship, perhaps executed. So severe is this theocracy that it would extend capital punishment to blasphemy, heresy, adultery and homosexuality."
This was written in 1994, eleven freaking years ago. What can we say about what we have seen in the last three years??? Well either Dominionism is a prevalent blight on the fabric of the US Constitution, or it is non-existent? Clearly the former is the correct response.
Dominionism has nothing to do with true Christianity. It has everything to do with control and the pursuit of raw power. Dominionism is not patriotic. It is subversive, seditious and dangerous. Finally, the big question facing Americans who believe in the separation of church and state is this: Can dominionism be stopped before the "last best hope of mankind" and the light of the torch in the hand of Lady Liberty are extinguished, perhaps forever? As things look like right now, the answer appears to be "no."
What it really comes down to is not a culture war, but a religious war. A singular focussed group, composed of members of christian sects of highly similar theologies, feels called by their faith, to exact dominion over the planet and all life thereon. Opposed to them, are a huge and vast diversity of sects, religions, non-religious individuals, and the mass of the human population. The only difference is that the christo-taliban has the keys to, codes for, hands on, the most powerful nuclear arsenal on the planet. You tell me. Which is the most likely scenario now?
Another voice supporting my contention is Mike Whitney, who writes:
The United States Military is a fully owned subsidiary of the corporate and financial establishment. It plays no role in defending the American people. The function of today's military is to seize the world's dwindling resources through force of arms and provide a taxpayer-funded security apparatus for multi-nationals and energy giants. The notion that the $500 billion per year Goliath is designed to protect the American people is sheer lunacy. Its real purpose is to win wars of aggression, siphon-off the wealth of foreign nations, and crush the subsequent resistance movements. Anything else is purely public relations pabulum.
